    Yves Martin was looking for a name for his beer; he wanted a word with a Polynesian sound that would be easy to pronounce in common languages: Tahitian, French, and English. He chose Hinano, the Tahitian name for the pandanus flower, but also a name for a vahine (woman in Polynesian).
